CRD - In Person Workshop: Plant Protection Products Registration under the Provisions of Article 34 under Plant Protection regimes in GB and NI

Introduction
This one-day workshop will provide a general introduction to UK
Registration Procedures under the provisions of Article 34 for
Plant Protection Products in accordance with Assimilated Regulation
No 1107/2009 for Great Britain and Regulation (EC) No 1107/2009 in
Northern Ireland.
The workshop will be delivered by HSE's Chemicals Regulation
Division (CRD) Registration Specialists who will be available to
answer your questions throughout the event.
The course will cover:
- What is Article 34? - what it can apply to
- Completing the application form - why we need the information
we ask for
- Data protection - what we can do if data is protected and what
the applicant can do
- What does 'comparable' mean - how scientific specialists
approach evaluation and the differences in criteria for each
specialist area
- Potential outcomes and Requests for Additional Information
(RAI) - things to consider when submitting data following a
RAI
- What happens when the reference product is in the 'frozen
period'

Who should attend?
This event is targeted at those who intend to submit
applications for generic plant protection products. The aim of the
workshop is to provide guidance on how to prepare submissions, how
submissions are affected by data protection and what comparability
means for the specialist scientific areas.
Speakers
Dr Des Roberts-Clark is a
senior Assessment Manager in the Pesticide Products Team with over
10 years of experience in PPP regulation. He has a background in
cell biology and brings experience of several aspects of biomedical
science including molecular biology, genetic analysis and
toxicology.
Angela Arch has been an Assessment Manager in
the Pesticide Products Team since 2020. She has a background
in ecotoxicology with over 25 years of experience in industry as a
Study Director and as an ecotoxicology specialist with CRD.
Helen Wilson has been a part of CRD's
Pesticide Products Team for over a year and has a background in
Biology.
Dr Dáire Browne is a new member of CRD's
Pesticide Products Team and has a background in Chemistry.
Marguerite Procter has been with CRD for almost
10 years, with previous regulatory experience in the chemical
industry. She is the Chemistry lead on formulation comparison
applications.
Harriet McNicholl joined CRD in 2023, after
finishing her degree in Chemistry. She has completed her training
in the Chemistry and Residues team and has recently been focussing
on formulation comparison applications.
Thomas Carter is a regulatory toxicologist with
experience in PPP regulation and is an internal toxicology point of
contact for Article 34 applications.
Alex Slack is a managing regulatory
toxicologist in CRD, with experience in PPP regulation.
Dr John Armstrong is a newer member of CRD,
having joined the Efficacy team 18 months ago, and, with a
molecular microbiology background, is interested in novel
molecular-based technologies and biopesticides.
Sofia Sangiorgi has been with CRD's
ecotoxicology team for 3 years and has a keen interest in the
assessment of the risk to birds and mammals.

- Laptop: Delegates are required to bring their
own laptops to access the course documents during the event.
