Following the success of our hydrogen safety conference back in March, HSE Training and Events is delighted to announce a follow-on 'deep dive' event for 2024 as part of the 'Safe Net Zero' series.

'Safety considerations for materials used in hydrogen environments' will take place in February 2024 and focuses on a key theme that many in industry, academia, research and development are keen to explore: the selection, technical performance and safety of materials used in hydrogen environments.

As the UK decarbonises to meet its net zero ambitions, the aim of the event is to dive deep into the challenges associated with the use of materials in hydrogen environments and highlight the work being done to understand the implications for safety.

This event brings together anyone with an interest in the safe development and use of materials in hydrogen environments to share current knowledge and experiences, identify where there's more to do and build relationships so that we can collectively work together to enable a safe net zero.

As you've come to expect from the Safe Net Zero series, the event will feature the most eminent thought leaders and expert presenters delivering a programme designed around the following topics:

  • Fundamental material properties and selection
  • Materials testing, characterisation and safety
  • Material applications in industry and case studies
  • Future trends and collaboration

We're busy finalising the full agenda, however you can book now to benefit from our early bird discounted rate. (The early bird rate is £295 and valid until 31st December 2023, after which the price increases to the regular delegate rate of £350. Both rates subject to additional event platform booking fee).

Learn what our previous event delegates have to say about our Safe Net Zero series:

'The quality of the speakers' presentations provided new insight into an ever changing and evolving path towards net zero.'
'I thought the event was great - I learned a lot about the different industries who will be looking to utilise H2 (aviation, marine etc) and areas of innovation.'
'Very useful conference. Good to see how other industries are getting to grips with hydrogen and hydrogen safety.'
'Hands down one of the best hydrogen events I've ever attended and would definitely attend again. The calibre of speakers was excellent and undoubtedly made the event what it was. Loved every second, took an unholy amount of notes, HSE's reputation remains at its peak.'
'Really great balance between a broad range of industry/academic speakers and always being focused on hydrogen safety.'
'The event was very well organised and covered a wide range of different business types that have, or may use hydrogen in its different forms. That breadth gave me the opportunity to use the lessons learnt and learn about the research being carried out in different industries to tackle some of the safety issues with production, distribution and use of hydrogen.'
'Great event. We need this forum to understand the future of hydrogen and the energy supply portfolio for the UK and its risks.'
