Introduction
Effective process safety
management (PSM) requires the right blend of engineering and
management skills. It is of vital importance in major hazard
industries such as oil and gas, chemicals, plastics and
pharmaceuticals to prevent the catastrophic accidents and near
misses associated with loss of containment of energy or dangerous
substances.
Process risks that are effectively controlled also help to
optimise business efficiency, reduce downtime and protect people
and assets, as well as business reputation.
However, PSM isn't just the job of the process safety
specialist. It's important that all managers, supervisors and
safety professionals working in these industries possess an
understanding of process safety to allow them to discharge their
responsibilities effectively.
Developed jointly by NEBOSH and HSE, the NEBOSH HSE Certificate
in Process Safety Management is a four-day course followed by a
formal assessment to give managers, supervisors and safety
professionals working in high hazard industries a broad
understanding of the accepted principles and recognised industrial
practices for the management of process risk.
The knowledge gained from this qualification will allow them to
recognise and contribute to the control of process safety hazards
and make a real impact across their organisation.
Learning outcomes:
The NEBOSH HSE Certificate in Process Safety Management is
designed to provide a sound breadth of knowledge that will allow
you to contribute to the effective management of process safety
risks.
The qualification aims to provide holders with the knowledge and
understanding of Process Safety Management to ensure that they can
contribute to the effective management of process safety risks.
For more information,

How is the qualification assessed?
Candidates are assessed by a 90 minute multiple choice
examination which must be accessed and completed via NEBOSH's
Online Assessment Platform within a 24-hour window. The date is set
by NEBOSH and will be within four weeks of you attending the
course.
Who should attend?
This qualification is ideal for managers, safety representatives
and health and safety advisors working within the process
industries, throughout the UK and internationally.
The qualification is not designed for
process safety/chemical engineers with extensive operational
experience of working within the processing environment.
It is also recommended that learners should already have an
underpinning knowledge of health and safety issues, and many will
have gained another NEBOSH qualification.
