CRD - Live Online Workshop: Surface Water Exposure via Drainflow
Live Online
Introduction
HSE's Chemicals Regulation Division will be holding a half-day
live online workshop focussing on environmental exposure of surface
waters via drainflow. The workshop will present attendees with an
overview of drainflow and the associated environmental fate
assessments required to meet regulatory requirements in the
UK. Key issues that applicants must take into account when
preparing active substance or product submissions will be
highlighted. The workshop will cover step-by-step
introductions to the use of first tier and higher tier tools,
including the recently released version of the MACRO 5 tool.
The workshop will comprise a mixture of presentations and live run
throughs of models using worked examples covering active
substances, metabolites, mixed active products, and conclude with
an open question and answer session. By the end of the
workshop, participants will have a better appreciation of this area
of pesticide risk assessment and be better able to prepare
regulatory submissions for plant protection products.
The course will cover:
- Introduction to drainflow
- Key endpoints - the EFSA conclusion and GB Competent Authority
conclusion, data gaps and critical areas of concern
- First tier drainflow - step-by-step guide and worked
examples
- Higher tier drainflow - step-by-step guide using MACRO 5 and
worked examples
- Presentation of higher tier MACRO modelling results and
introduction to ecotox criteria
- Metabolites
- The use of the risk envelope approach
- Mixed active products
- Common problems with applications
